I have built 5 guitars and now I thought it was time for a ukulele. Here it is:

And here is the way-too-long process you have all seen:

I've made a few using that Diaz shape, but none so nicely decorated or finished. I find these narrow-waisted beauties are remarkably loud, and have quite a distinctive sound. Generally I'm not a fan of softwood tops on sopranos (too shrill), but they work really nicely on this shape.

Sound clip?

Sorry prof

I only have a flip phone. The top is Osage Orange, the next slices from the back. The only things that are not OO are the Honduran RW fretboard, the maple bridge plate and the spruce braces and linings. MArtins were all mahogany except for these same parts.

Thanks

Ed

And prof

Why do you call it a Diaz shape? I used a tracing of a Ditson dreadnought from 1916.

I think the confusion is because the flicker link is to a spruce top uke not an OO dread shape uke.

Bryan has it. The album starts with the one I thought you made, then a vintage Martin, then more Martins, and then (I guess) the pictures of the uke you;ve just made (which I do recognise as a DItson shape!).
